Good-bye to a good Car

This morning I was sleeping oh so deeply. The type of sleep where your body is really resting and restoring itself. When suddenly the neighbor's dog started barking. A lot. I jumped out of bed, and in my dream-fogged state, I thought I had left Sky-Dog outside all night. So I started running for the door to let my barking Sky-Dog in, when I realized, Sky was running along right behind me.

So I stood still in the hallway trying to figure out what was going on. Was Nora crying? Did that wake me up? No. The dog was still barking...but she always barks. Then I realized that someone was POUNDING on the neighbor's door down below me and was ringing the doorbell. Ugh. Over and over POUNDING, RINGING etc etc.

I started to worry that they were going to wake up Nora so I got dressed to go outside and see what the fuss was about. By this time, Doug was up with me and we started to go the door together, just as someone started pounding on OUR door! So I open the door and on my doorstep is a police officer, asking if we own the white vehicle parked out front.

"Why, yes Officer, we do... Why?"

"Your car was the victim of a hit-and-run. You need to come and see this."

So we go down stairs to see our car (Which is freshly back from the repair shop, no less) rammed up onto the lawn and between our two pine trees. The whole drivers side is mashed in, the doors either are so dented they won't close or they are mashed closed and won't open.

Doug is able to pull it forward back onto the street. There are gouges in the cement sidewalk from something being scraped across them, and everything is all shaken up in our car.

We are pretty sure it is totaled.

This poor car has been through so much with me. It has been a good car that has not gotten stuck when people expected it too, and gone places with snow chains that even I was suprised about. It has been a work vehicle for my cleaning business, a family car, a ranch car and so much more. It was the first "new to me" car that I had ever bought. I picked it out myself when it only had 20,000 miles on it. Together we drove a good 70,000 miles since 2001. I am going to miss this car. :(

Pictures of the mutilation of my car will be upcoming.

New Schedule

I am so sorry I haven't posted for a while. My laptop had problems not to long ago and had to be reformatted, but never quite fully recovered. It kept getting slower and slower, taking as much as 5-10 minutes to load Internet Explorer. So I took it back to V-Mobile (the place that I bought it from) and since it is still under warranty until the end of the year, they are going to fix it. I will probably be getting new ram, new hard drive, new CD drive, new keyboard, the list goes on. Basically they are using the same case and just giving me all new insides. Yay! Maybe it will last another few years for me.

But with having a slowed down computer, I just wasn't able to be on the internet all that much. Our other computer is in the the office...aka "Man Land" which is not baby proof at all. The good news is, until my computer gets fixed, I have this loaner computer to use! Yay!

Nora is back on schedule again. She wakes up at 6:30am every morning and I have been putting her to bed between 8 and 8:30pm. She has been taking a morning nap between 9:30am and 11am. I am still working on trying to tighten that schedule up a bit. I would love it if she went to take her nap right at 10am. Then, she is often taking another nap at about 3pm. Sometimes she will sleep for 2-3 hours in the morning and then be fine the rest of the day.

She is still doing her biting thing. Usually when she is hungry is when she is the worst. I was just trying to get her changed out of her clothes and into new clothes and a diaper; She knew that her bottle was ready, so she turned over and bit my foot! Ouch! Luckily she bit the pad and not the arch of my foot, otherwise she might have drawn blood.

When puppies bite, you can shove your hand further into their mouth to make it really uncomfortable to continue to bite down. I have sort of adopted this policy with Nora. When she bites me, I mooosh her face harder towards me. She really doesn't like this and has slowed her biting down.

Her favorite food right now is Organic Oranges. I am really trying hard to give her only organic foods. I am trying to change the way I eat and live and I figure that now is a great time to eliminate toxins from her diet too! Hopefully if I can keep affording to feed her organically, she won't face a lot of the problems that "conventionally" fed children often do. She also likes the organic Sesame Street cheese crackers and the Organic Letter of the day cookies. She loves string cheese and bread, oh and she really likes lunch meat. I am going to have her try Tofurkey lunch meat and she loves the Boca brand Chik'in patties.

I am trying to go vegan, but so far am having more luck going vegetarian. I ate meat last night because my friends at the Ranch made hamburgers from their ranch-raised beef. I figure a little meat once a week won't hurt as much as meat several times a day each day was hurting me, and I know how they raised and slaughtered their meat so I don't have a problem there. Just like I don't mind drinking their raw goats milk. Yum.

I must admit I still drink some of Nora's organic milk occasionally. I have a serious milk addiction. I am trying to break it, and I am doing much better. But it can be hard at times.

Well, I hope everyone is doing great! More later!
